Are you worried your family member or friend may have an eating disorder and don't know where to turn? Are you caring for someone in the community and are concerned they may have an eating problem/self-harm issue?
If you're concerned we recommend that you...
a. Talk to them and try and to encourage them to consult a GP.
If necessary offer to go along with them the first time. Don't pressurise them but make it clear that you love them and you're concerned for their welfare.
b. You may find the following information useful:
ACHE is an organisation that seeks to support those caring for those with eating disorders. Ring them on 01934 710336. It is confidential and very helpful to talk with someone who understands. You may also like to look at their website
